Congratulations to Shakib Al Hasan

This is one of the great moments for Bangladeshi cricket as Shakib Al Hasan has topped the list of ICC’s Top 10 ODI all-rounders. Bangladeshi crickets have made their ways in the ICC top ten list for both ODI and Test in past but this is the first time someone is ranked number 1.

As you can see (screenshot taken from ICC’s official website) Shakib is ranked with 380 points followed by New Zealand’s Jacob Oram and England’s Andrew Flintoff. Shakib also ranks 10 in the list of top 10 Test all-rounders, which is not bad at all. He is younge and performing really well for Bangladesh. I really hope that he keeps up the performance and do the best things for Bangladesh cricket team. I wish him all the best and congratulations.

An open letter to Mr Dav Whatmore

Dear Mr Whatmore

Good day.

First of all I would like to thank you for what you have done for our team. I know your effort and hard work deserve much more than that but that is only I can convey. I know that you are a great coach and with such profile as yours you will be one of the top choices for other countries to have you as their coach.

Being a Bangladeshi I believe our team has a great potential to be one of the best team in near future. Our players are very comfortable to have you as their coach. From what I feel Bangladesh team will need you to be there with them for as long as possible and it will be really sad to see you leave, especially at the time when our team is starting to evolve. I will really hope that you will continue your service for our team and guide us towards a bright future in Cricket. I also believe Bangladesh Cricket Board will be keen to renew your contract and will be more than happy to do so.

This post in my blog is a very small effort to reach out to you. But I hope, if somehow my message gets to you, you will consider extending your stay with us.

With best regards,

Ehsanul Haque

We will miss you…

It is a sad moment for Bangladesh. While we are waiting for our cricket team to play their first match tomorrow against India, we loose one of our fine cricket players – widely known as Rana.

At the young age of 22 Manjural Islam Rana died when he collided with a bus while riding a motorbike in Khulna (Inna lillahi wa inna ilahi raji’un). As far I have seen and felt he could have turned out to be one of the best cricket players for Bangladesh. Sajjadul Hasan Setu (local first-class player) also died in the incident. Undoubtably Rana’s presence will be missed.
