On my way to Québec City

Here I’m, finally, off to Québec City. Tithi and I planned this trip at the very last minute. Today is Friday and we decided to have this trip on Tuesday. Anyway, both of us were looking forward to this day to start our trip. We didn’t have much time to prepare as Tithi has her class to attend and I’m dead busy with office work. But we managed to get it all together. Packed up, woke up early (although I was hopping to have a good sleep over the long weekend).

Yes, it is long weekend in Canada. For Easter we’ve Friday as vacation followed by Saturday and Sunday. Anyway, this is our first trip to somewhere after we got married. Well, that’s not quite right. We traveled to Canada. Anyway, I’ve always heard that Québec City is a beautiful place. I hope the weather will be good. I’m connected to internet with the train’s on-board WiFi service. Just enjoying the views outside and writing this article.

I really needed this break. Both Tithi and I actually. It feels great to finally go out for a long trip. We’ve thought about it many times but never had a chance to do it. Here are some photos taken from the train so far….I’ll keep posting as my journey continues.

I would like to thank my wife, Tithi, that she was really supportive in my decision to buy this expensive toy. Well this is the second expensive toy that I’ve bought in last few months; first was my Play Station 3.

I will try to post my experience with the Mac Book Pro as I keep using it. Thanks.

One step closer to the Eternity…

One step closer to the Eternity....
Well it is that time of the year again!

On one side it is the joy of the day and on the other side is the sorrow of loosing another precious year from my life.

When I was in Bangladesh I used to take this day off to spend the day with my family and Tithi. In the morning I would have gone out with Tithi, may be buy a cake and cut it in my car. Celebrating the time together. Later in the day my mother used to cook some nice dishes for everyone. Last year, in Canada, I spent all day in office - my new job at that time. Later in the day I cut a cake at my brother’s house.

This year my parents and Tithi are with me. Last night at 12AM we all ate a cake bar. Today my mother and Tithi will be cooking Biriyani which we will eat after Iftar. I am now in the office. Writing this blog entry. I have some documents to prepare for my office project. Growing old every minute. The feelings are not same as it used to be. May be I have changed over last year, the way I look at life.

Somewhere I read that the life is like a chocolate. It is tasty and more you taste it the more it will finish. As soon as it is all gone you will feel “Oh I wish I had more!”

I don’t know how long I shall live. I hope as long as I do, I will make everyone around me happy.

Now I lay me down to sleep
Pray the lord my soul to keep
If I die before I wake
Pray the lord my soul to take
– Enter Sandman (Metallica)

I treasure every moment of my life and I would like to thank every person I have come to know so far in my life. I hope next year I will be still be here to share my thoughts with you all.

At my mid twenties….I’m one step closer to the eternity….

Thank you.

Where have I been?

It has been a long time since I last posted anything on the blog. Thanks to those who cared to email me for not writing anything. Well I have been very busy for last few months. In May I was preparing to go to Bangladesh. Initially my parents were supposed to go back to Bangladesh but unfortunately they could not go. Due to the accident that my father had few moths back doctor asked him to stay for few more months. Well I left on June 9th with my eldest brother, who migrated to Canada with us (my parents and me) last year.

After a shocking and disappointing 41 hours flight back to Bangladesh on Etihad Airways I had to start shopping from very next day! I didn’t even have time to contact anyone. Everyone had to come and wait for me at Kolahal (my house’s name in Dhaka). I would like to apologize to many of you whom I should have contacted and met. I promise to do so next time I visit.

Well on 22nd June a reception party was held. Some pictures from the party is on my Flickr.com account. After that Tithi (my wife), Shakhhar (my cousin), Pia (Shakkhar’s wife) and Mishuk (my another cousin) decided to visit our village at Shahjadpur. We had only one night to stay there and two whole days to spend. We had most out of our time there. Took around 832 pictures during that trip. Few of the pictures are on Flickr.com now.

Well as we all know time goes by just like that. It was a good trip, yet was so short. I feel I should have done a lot more than what I have done this time. I wish I had more time to spend there. On 3rd July I took the flight back to Canada with Tithi. Now she is here with me. She is doing good here but misses her family, friends and funs. Hope we can fulfill our hopes and dreams.

It was really good to be back to my own land. I hope to return to it for good, very soon!

Got married!

On 26th December I have got married to Tithi. We got engaged right before I came to Canada. It was Bangladesh time 11:30 PM and Canada time 10:30 AM when our marriage was conducted, over phone.

Tithi

It’s her picture - left one is during the ceremony called “Gaye Holud” and right one is during marriage ceremony.

I'm with my mother and father.

I’m with my mother and father.

Please pray for our new life together and you all are invited at my reception party in Bangladesh when I will be there after Tithi gets her visa. Hopefully in three to four months.

Thank you.

Start of a new life

Yesterday, 22nd September, I started my job life in Canada. I have joined here in a company as Senior Web Application Developer. Well, here I start all over again. Although the company is not a big shot company, but still they are growing and in business since 1998. I hope I will be able to contribute my best that be good for the company.

My office is in downtown. The place I live in called Mississauga and the only way to reach downtown at the pick hour (6AM-8AM) is to take train. My brother dropped me off at the station at 7:30AM. Took the train at 7:45AM that reached the downtown Union Station at 8:20AM. As I was not sure what to do next and I did not want to take taxi (like I did during the interview), I started walking. My father and I browsed Google Maps the day before to find out the best path that reaches my office from the Union Station. So I had the route in my mind, that helped me recognizing the street names. On my way I forgot how many blocks will I have to walk and which road will lead me to the office. So I stepped in to a coffee shop, took a cup of coffee and took out my laptop. I had the map saved, so I studied that well, yet again. After walking for 20 more minutes I reached my office. It took me almost an hour walk to reach there. From Monday I will not be walking from station to office, because now I know there are Street Cars that takes $2.75 to travel between Station to Niagra Street (street that leads to my office).

Well, life has started rolling with busy schedule. I hope I can keep up with pace here. Please do pray for me.

Ramadan Mubarak to all of you. Take care and God Bless!

Thanks

Something is missing…

Is there anything missing? Well there is, a big part of my heart, left behind in Bangladesh. Yes, I’m in Canada
now! Miss everything that I had back home.

I was supposed to fly on Friday but due to some problem with Air India we had to cancel their ticket and buy a new for Cathy Pacific. Flight was scheduled for Thursday night. We (my father and I) managed to buy new tickets, get new endorsements in a day. We still had a lot of packing up remaining. That we started on Thursday morning. I was really happy when Tithi (my fiancé) came with her mother and sister to visit us. They stayed for a long time and Tithi stayed with me until I reached Air Port.

Well it was a very long route to Canada and must say was not a good one. It was very bad and hopeless service at Cathy Pacific. I traveled with Singapore, Thai, Malaysian, British airways before but never had this kind of bad service. Anyway when I first saw my brother after 7 years it was a good feeling. I really missed him a lot. When we left Air Port premises and entered the city, it felt like I was back to Australia. Everything was alike Melbourne. The weather is cold here. But not for my brother but for us it is.

BTW, I’m using my new laptop. Dell Inpiron I6400. My brother bought it for me before I came here. Its an awesome laptop. Here is a small configuration detail:

Intel Centrino Duo T2400 1.83GHz
Windows Home Edition SP2 (Windows Vista capable)
15.4 Inch Wide Screen
1GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz, 2 Dimm
80GB 5400rpm SATA Hard Drive
8X CD/DVD Burner (DVD+/-RW) with double-layer4 DVD+R
write capability
128MB ATI MOBILITY™ RADEON® X1300 HyperMemory™
Dell Wireless 1390 802.11b/g Mini Card (54Mbps)
…any few other stuffs….

And what can I say about internet connection! Back home I used to be happy when
at some point I got 4/5 KBps speed. It was a dream comes true. I remember when
I first downloaded Yahoo Messenger 8 at a speed of 2/3KBps it took me around
3/4 hours (probably more). Here I downloaded it in less than a minute! I’ve
just checked the speed and it gives me download speed of 192KBps and upload of
around 55KBps. Great isn’t it? I’m using wireless connection. Life is lot
easier here if you have a good job and good money. I hope to get a good job
soon. I’m just getting ready to apply for jobs.

Anyway besides all the good things I’m blessed with here in Canada,
I still miss my time in Bangladesh.
I know my country has a lot of problems, but the root belongs there. I will
hopefully go back to Bangladesh
very soon.

Thanks…

Tithi and I have got engaged

18th August 2006 will be one of the memorable days in my life. Yesterday Tithi and I have got engaged.

It was not planned. On Thursday night (17th August) both families decided to get on with the engagement ceremony. My parents and I went for some shopping, bought a beautiful ring for Tithi. We all prepared the gifts and stuffs bought for the ceremony purpose, made sure if everything was in the right order. Then we went down to her house.

After waiting for about 30 or 40 minutes Tithi got ready in Saree that we bought for her. I was asked to wear the Panjabi that Tithi’’s parents gave me. Finally we exchanged the rings as a symbol of togetherness and trust. I hope to come back soon to get married. Inshallah everything will go smoothly and with joy.

I don”t want to Thank you family nor Tithi’’s family for accepting our (Tithi and mine) relationship which is now almost 5 and a half year long. Because their support deserves a lot more than a simple words like “Thank You”. I don”t think I have any word or anything at all to show my gratitude to all of them. I can only say I love my family and glad to have such in-law family.

My Own iPod Nano

Yesterday I received my own iPod Nano. This is an awsome toy. Real small and thin.

With 1 GB memory and the nice feature it has, one cannot complain of anything else. When I opened the well organised box, I was really surprised to see the size of it. It came with a velvet cover, headphones and software required, iTunes etc. Oh two Apply stickers!!

Thanks to Lisa Skinner for the nice gift she sent for the small work that I have done on her e-commerce site. I simply love the toy and having nice time listening to my favorite songs.
